ABOUT

My Culture Craving is a food, travel and lifestyle blog dedicated to helping you discover the best foodie and travel experiences in Bicester and beyond!

Founded in 2014…

My Culture Craving was originally created as a place for me to share my adventures whilst I travelled the world for 16 months on my own. I have now travelled to over 40 countries across 5 continents and have relished every opportunity I’ve had to learn about and experience a country’s culture.

I’ve lived and volunteered for a charity in Nicaragua for 4 months, eaten the most delicious dishes from street food stalls in South East Asia, stayed with a wonderful Fijian lady at a homestay on a remote island in Fiji and travelled across countries for hours on end on local transport. I’m not shy to throw myself in at the deep end – after all, that’s where all the best travel stories and memories come from!

However, since returning home from my last travel trip, I have somewhat ‘settled’. I’ve moved into a lovely farmhouse with my sister in a village called Weston on the Green, located around 5 miles from Bicester, Oxfordshire and now settle my culture cravings by seeking out the best independent foodie and fun experiences a little closer to home.

Bicester is without a doubt best know for its shopping centre, Bicester Village. However, there’s so much more to this town than the queues and discount rates of its luxury designer outlet. There’s an abundance of amazing local, independent businesses and eateries to support and my plan is to find them for us all to enjoy!

On my blog you will find honest reviews of independent restaurants, pubs, cafés and hotels in and around Bicester, helpful guides to the local area, independent business inspo and travel itineraries, top tips and guides.

I also work full time as an Account Executive at a Performance Improvement and Incentive Agency in Oxfordshire. When I’m not writing or working you’ll usually find me drinking wine, browsing restaurant menus online, drinking excessively strong coffee, reading my latest book purchase or planning my next adventure.

If you’re an independent business in the Bicester area and are interested in creating some content together, I’d love to hear from you! Pop me over an email to lydia@myculturecraving.com or get in touch via my ‘Contact’ page.
