    Postcards Home – Week 64

To my dearest friends, family and fellow culture cravers,

For the past 10 days I have been visiting my best friend, Fiona in The Big Apple. Since she moved to New York in January, I knew I HAD to fit in a trip to visit her and this iconic city.

When I first set foot on Wall Street in Downtown New York (where Fiona lives), it was just as I’d imagined.

    Postcards Home – Week 63

To my dearest friends, family and fellow culture cravers,

Our last week in America has been fan-bloomin-tastic.

After San Diego we jumped back on the Greyhound bus to VEGAS BABYYYY!!

Neither Lydia or myself were that fussed about what the City of Sin had to offer. Instead, we were visiting out of obligation (because, who goes to California and doesn’t make time for Vegas!?) and curiosity to see what the hype was all about.

    Postcards Home – Week 62

To my dearest friends, family and fellow culture cravers,

Since my last Postcards Home post (read it here) I’ve gone from the tranquil beaches of Koh Chang in Thailand to the manic, palm tree-laden streets of California – both exotic but both OH so different.

I never expected to be nervous to travel somewhere which speaks the same language as myself and that, in general, is very similar to my home country.

Nevertheless, as I waited to board my flight to LA, I was cacking it.

    Postcards Home – Week 61

To my dearest friends, family and fellow culture cravers,

Our second week in Myanmar took us to a small town called Bagan. Due to its vast expanse of ancient temples sprinkled throughout the area’s bare terrain, Bagan is by far the most popular stop on every traveller’s Myanmar itinerary.

If you’ve gawped at any of the jaw-dropping photos of the sunrise over the temples of Bagan on Insta, you’ll know why…

    Postcards Home – Week 60

To my dearest friends, family and fellow culture cravers,

After sadly having to wave goodbye to Vietnam, Lizzie and I flew back to Bangkok to venture up North to the hippie haven of Pai.

Located 3/4 hours further North of Chiang Mai, Pai is a quaint backpacker town nestled in the hills of Northern Thailand and these days, is on every traveller’s ‘must visit’ list. During my first visit to Thailand in 2011, I’d never heard of this chilled-out spot however, come 2016, it’s all people rave on about regarding Thailand’s North.

    Postcards Home – Week 59

To my dearest friends, family and fellow culture cravers,

Last week’s escapades led us to the capital of Vietnam – Hanoi.

Renowned for its insane amount of traffic, scrumptious street food and 12p pints of beer, we were excited to head back into the big smoke for a couple of nights.

    Postcards Home – Week 58

To my dearest friends, family and fellow culture cravers,

Since our adventurous first week in Vietnam (read about it here), the fun has only continued. After Hoi An we caught the train along the Hai Van Pass to Hue.

The Hai Van Pass has been voted one of the most jaw-dropping stretches of road in Vietnam. Treating you to alcoves of deserted golden beaches, stretches of rolling green jungle and a fair few hair-raising vertical drops, a lot of backpackers choose to travel this route on a motorbike over a couple of days.
